Intravis improves cap inspection system

CapWatcher Q-Line This inspection system from Intravis can be used either inline or offline to spot defects in plastic container closures and components such as tamper-evident bands and liners. When it finds a defect, CapWatcher Q-Line can trace the problem to the mold cavity where the closure was produced. A freely configurable ejector allows the operator to reject parts with specific types of defects or from a specific mold cavity. With eight high-resolution cameras, the system can inspect up to 216,000 objects per hour using more than 40 criteria.

What’s new? The CapWatcher Q-Line, and numerous features and upgrades over other CapWatcher systems. The system has a new separation unit that positions the closures for inspection. Intravis has improved the non-contact, high-voltage testing technology that detects micro holes and has upgraded the inspection capabilities for closure components such as tamper-evident bands, threads and inner and outer seal cones. A new capability — measuring the temperature of each closure — allows the system to determine the final dimensions of the cooled closure using a temperature response curve.
