PrintRite3D Inspect module Sigma Labs has released a new version of its in-process quality-monitoring software module for metal additive manufacturing, including the production of 3-D printed molds.

What's new? Version 3.0.2. This new version includes a 3-D thermal-mapping feature that Sigma Labs calls Thermal Energy Density. The module also contains a suite of statistical process control apps for monitoring at the build, part, layer or scan level.

Benefits Early defect detection. Using sensor data, the module can produce an alloy-specific process map and monitor attributes of the process to predict defects in the final product. Part data can also be used to optimize the production process.
