Modix Big This series of large-format 3D printers includes six models, ranging from the Big-60 to the Everest, which has a print area more than six feet tall. The printers support independent dual extrusion, high-flow filament printing and multiple print-head configurations, and their modular design makes them easy to upgrade and expand.

What’s new? Generation 5, a series of upgrades to all new printers that are also retrofittable onto existing Big models.

Benefits Increased versatility. The new Duet 3 control platform with CANBUS distributed electronics allows users to add motor drivers, I/O modules, sensors and toolboards, supporting more than 20 axes and drivers without redesigning the main electronics. The upgrades also include an integrated accelerometer for automated calibration and motion tuning, a new touchscreen interface and updated user experience. At Formnext in November, Modix plans to introduce an automatic tool changer, a compact pellet extruder head, and a tilted print-head system for 45-degree printing, allowing production of shapes that would otherwise need extensive internal supports.
