Modix upgrades its large-scale 3-D printers

April 1, 2020
Modix offers Version 3.0 upgrades of some of its large-scale 3-D printers, to include more build height and premium components.

Big-60 and Big-120X Modix’s flagship fused-filament-fabrication 3-D printers employ open-source software and automatic bed leveling. Both large-format printers offer the option of a second print head and are compatible with three different hot ends that are optimized for detailed, standard or fast printing.

What’s new? Version 3.0. Upgrades include a 10 percent increase in the build height and a new, 7-inch touchscreen. The printer includes new, premium key components, including the print head, controller, drivers and user interface.

Benefits Better performance. The dual print heads are more efficient and the extruder motor is now located on top of the melting device, which provides cleaner printing and tighter tolerances. A larger extruder heat sink and more powerful fan improve build chamber cooling. The printers arrive as unassembled kits, which lowers their price and cuts delivery costs. The resins they work with include polylactic acid, ABS, nylon, PET-glycol and composites. The user manual is more concise and now includes 80 tutorial videos.
