Atlas pre-shredder handles post-consumer waste
Atlas 5500 AS Lindner’s twin-shaft pre-shredder has an electromechanical drive belt and a ripping-cutting system. Plastics recyclers can use it to rip open bags of post-consumer waste to be sorted.
What’s new? Lindner’s FX fast-exchange system, which makes it possible to swap out cutting systems in less than an hour. The updated machine has been available since late last year.
Benefits Efficient bag-opening. The pre-shredder can be set to open bags without damaging the contents. With its DEX, or Dynamic Energy Exchange energy-management system, the pre-shredder continuously runs at an optimal setting. As one shaft is braking, the system recovers the kinetic energy and directs it to the second shaft, resulting in energy savings of about 40 percent, compared with other pre-shredders. In addition, the pre-shredder is equipped with a new control designed for use by less skilled or untrained personnel; it can even be operated remotely.
