Okuma launches factory automation division

It will offer Okuma machine tools paired with proprietary and integrated automation systems.

Okuma America Corp., a maker of CNC machine tools, controls and automation systems, has created a new Factory Automation Division, based at its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. 

The company said the new division would meet demand from manufacturers for automated machining systems and cells, to address labor shortages and increase production. It will offer Okuma machine tools paired with proprietary and integrated automation systems, including material loading and unloading, machine tending, automated workpiece pallet changers, smart manufacturing systems and more.  

“The launch of the Okuma Factory Automation Division is a strategic milestone in the company's 125-year history of creating products and services that meet customer needs of the day,” Okuma America President and COO Jim King said. “Manufacturing has significantly evolved over the last five years with the broad adoption of automated technologies and changes in workforce trends. With our newly created Factory Automation Division, we are well-positioned to advise and provide customers of all sizes with manufacturing systems to optimize their operations. 

Wade Anderson is the division's new GM. He has worked for Okuma for 17 years in a variety of roles including engineering, technical sales, sales leadership, product management and technology partner relationships.
