Okuma America Corp., which builds machine tools, controls and automation systems, has been named a 2022 Top Workplace within the Charlotte-metro area of North Carolina by The Charlotte Observer. In a metro area with an estimated population of 2.6 million residents, Okuma was one of only 85 businesses to earn the distinction.
Over 80 percent of Okuma's employees completed an anonymous survey that gave feedback on 24 different topics related to job satisfaction and company culture – well beyond the minimum rate of 35 percent participation to be considered for the award.
Okuma was one of 19 companies honored in the intermediate-size business category, defined as 150 to 499 employees.
