Orlas Creator O.R. Lasertechnology's selective-laser-melting (SLM) 3-D printer, which can handle almost all metals, is appropriate for manufacturing mold components. Costing less than $100,000, the printer employs a 250-watt laser to apply heat to metal powder within a circular build area of about 3.9 inches.

What's new? The 3-D printer, which the company introduced in November at formnext in Germany.
