Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH, Schwaig, Germany, has appointed Gerd Liebig as CEO, elevating him from the chief sales officer position he assumed a year ago. The former CEO, Tetsuya Okamura, held that position since 2008 but will now serve as the chief executive at Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd., Chiba, Japan.

Liebig has worked in sales and marketing in the injection molding industry for more than 25 years. He joined Sumitomo (SHI) Demag in 1990 as the company's head of marketing.
