Japan Steel Works Ltd. (JSW), Tokyo, has added to its family of subsidiaries with its acquisition of 80 percent of SM Platek Co. Ltd. (SMP), South Korea's largest supplier of twin-screw extruders.
JSW says SMP, which was formerly headquartered in Ansan, South Korea, will continue to supply its extruders to general compounders all over the world, with a concentration on producing screws with diameters smaller than 100mm.
A global corporation, JSW manufactures an array of products, including twin-screw extruders from 25mm to 443mm in diameter. It also makes other kinds of plastics processing machinery, including polyolefin pelletizers, blow molding machines, injection molding machines and film- and sheet-manufacturing equipment.
In addition to plastics, it is involved in a number of industries, including steel and energy.
