Materialise expects to boost its industrial customer base across North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region, while Link3D will offer its customers a seamless connection to Materialise’s Magics 3D Print Suite.

Materialise NV, a firm that offers software solutions and 3-D printing services and is based in Leuven, Belgium, has acquired an option to buy Link3D Inc., a New York-based provider of additive workflow and manufacturing execution systems.

Materialise said both companies will benefit — Materialise by increasing its industrial customer base across North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region, and Link3D by offering its customers a seamless connection to Materialise’s Magics 3D Print Suite.

“This agreement exploits the synergy between the two companies and will help us to remove some of the complexity associated with scaling 3-D printing as part of a connected, industrial manufacturing process,” said Fried Vancraen, CEO of Materialise.
