3-D printer brings functionality to desktop

Jan. 15, 2021
BCN3D's Sigma D25 offers flexible printing options for rapid prototyping and design evolution.

Sigma D25 Like all 3-D printers from BCN3D, this desktop printer has dual extruder heads. The Barcelona, Spain-based manufacturer’s IDEX (independent dual extruder) system lets two heads operate independently to print parts and their support structures; parts with two different materials; identical parts to double production speed; or two mirror-image parts. In the U.S., the printers are distributed by Matterhackers Inc., Lake Forest, Calif.; Dynamism Inc., Chicago; and Archematerial Inc., Fairfax, Va.

What’s new? The Sigma D25, a re-engineering of its predecessors. Its X and Z axes have been reinforced, and its extruders have been repositioned to the back of the printer, shortening the distance to the hotend to prevent overheating.

Benefits Fast, affordable prototyping. The Sigma D25 gives engineers and designers a desktop tool that allows them to quickly produce prototypes and iterate those designs from easy-to-print materials.
