Printer smaller, handles technical resins

Dec. 17, 2020
BCN3D's Epsilon W27 is smaller than its predecessor, but maintains capabilities and range of resins it can print.

Epsilon W27 This fused-filament-fabrication 3-D printer is the little brother to Barcelona, Spain-based BCN3D’s Epsilon W50. It has a fully enclosed build chamber to maintain its internal temperature, and it can print everything from prototypes to functional end-use parts made of technical materials like ABS. In the U.S., the printers are distributed by Matterhackers Inc., Lake Forest, Calif.; Dynamism Inc., Chicago; and Archematerial Inc., Fairfax, Va.

What’s new? The printer, the newest in BCN3D’s workbench series.

Benefits Value. The Epsilon W27 maintains the printing functionality and range of compatible resins of its predecessor, at a smaller size and lower price. All of BCN3D’s printers include the company’s IDEX (independent dual extruder) system. The IDEX system has two extruder heads that can operate independently to print parts and their support structures; parts with two different materials; two identical parts to double production speed; or two mirror-image parts. The printer has numerous protective features, including the Safety Pause, which stops printing each time the door is opened; a HEPA filter; and a separate carbon filter to shield users from harmful fumes.
