Modix Big-Meter This fused-filament-fabrication printer is among the newest in Modix’s portfolio of large-format 3-D printers. It uses 0.4mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm brass nozzles and has linear guide rails and an enclosure made of aluminum and aluminum composite panels. Offering automatic bed leveling and WiFi accessibility, it is equipped with a 7-inch touch-screen controller. By default, it uses 1.75mm-diameter filament diameter, although 3mm filament also is available. The company says about 95 percent of its customers use Modix printers for industrial applications.
What’s new? The printer, which Modix launched about two months ago.
Benefits Minimal energy consumption and cost-effectiveness, compared with other large-format printers. By offering its printers as kits that require assembly by their users, Modix is able to sell its technologies at much lower prices than some comparably sized printers. During its initial rollout, the Modix Big-Meter is priced at $10,500.
