RAMP Built  in partnership with ABB Ltd., Zurich, this 3-D printing package includes Arevo's new end-effector deposition head, which can produce high-strength composite parts, as well as the software used to run it. The deposition head is designed to work with ABB's IRB 120 six-axis robot, but can be attached to the arms of larger ABB robots, as well. Applications include parts for the aerospace, medical and oil and gas industries. Arevo's full package, which stands for Robotic Additive Manufacturing Platform, includes the deposition head, composite materials and a comprehensive software suite.

What's new? The hardware and software package. It's already available to some of Arevo's customers, but a broader release is planned for the third quarter of this year.

Benefits Optimum strength and scalability. With a standard, off-the-shelf robot, the deposition head can be used to make everything from tiny medical parts to large aerospace structures. It has advanced thermal management technology for processing high-performance, carbon-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic, and with the ability to move in six directions, it can create high-strength parts.
