Florida-based MalStra LLC has bought thermoforming and extrusion machinery firm OMV Machinery Srl, Verona, Italy, from Switzerland’s Wifag/Polytype Holding AG for an undisclosed sum.

MalStra owners Mark Strachan and Brooke Maltun are both plastics packaging veterans, and they will lead the new firm, which will operate as OMV Technologies Inc. Plans call for machines and tooling to continue to be built in Italy, and all current personnel to be retained. Strachan will serve as the CEO of the new company and Maltun will be its president.

The new OMV will be headquartered in Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and will open an extrusion thermoforming lab, product development lab and training facility.
