The Maag Group debuted two new pelletizers at K 2025.
The first is a new model in its Pearlo series, the compact Pearlo CS.
“We developed the Pearlo CS specifically for manufacturers who need top-tier performance in a streamlined footprint,” Product Manager Rico Sandmann said.
It features a tangential cutting chamber and optimized cutter design.
The Pearlo CS is available in two sizes, with throughput rates from 110 pounds to 1,100 pounds per hour.
The series features fast product changeover, automatic or manual blade adjustment, and single-handed opening and closing of the cutting chamber. The cutter hub is a turbine-style design, and the pelletizer connects to the cutting chamber by a rotational clamp.
The Pearlo CS can be mounted on the floor or on a machine. The top-mounted model comes either on three pillars or four pillars. On the three-pillar version, all components are suspended while the frame can be fixed to the floor or moveable. On the four-pillar model, the suspended components can be moved sideways.
Maag said the Pearlo CS is suitable for compounding, masterbatch processing, recycling and processing virgin polymers.
The series replaces Maag’s LPU and EFlex models.
The second new model is an underwater strand pelletizer, an updated M²USG series that has a new cutting head and additional sensor technology the company said improves operations and maintenance, and reduces potential operating errors.
The M²USG series is designed for maximum plant availability and stable production, the company said. That means reduced downtime, lower scrap rates and lower operating costs.
Other features include a cutting head gap-monitoring system and agglomerate catcher.
The company said it is best suited for large-scale virgin resin applications.
The M²USG series comes in three sizes: the M²USG 600 with a 600mm working width, M²USG 900 with a 900mm working width and M²USG series 1200 with a 1,200mm working width.
The cutting rotor drive power ranges from 18.5 to 37 kilowatts. Maximum throughout is 14.3 tons per hour for the M²USG 600, 20.9 tons per hour for the M²USG 900 and 26.4 tons per hour for the M²USG 1200.
The M²USG 600 can process 66-120 strands, depending in the material; the M²USG 900 can process 100-180 strands; and the M²USG 1200 can process 127-228 strands.
