UR8 Long cobot is slimmer, more agile
UR8 Long Universal Robots’ (UR) latest collaborative robot (cobot) has the same reach as the UR20 — 68.9 inches — but has a slimmer profile and weighs 30 percent less, with a compact wrist design that makes it appropriate for mounting on gantries, rails or overhead systems, where external axes can operate more efficiently. It can handle a payload of 22 pounds, and the improved joint architecture delivers up to 30 percent faster cycle times compared to earlier generations. It runs with Universal’s PolyScope 5 and PolyScope X software platforms, and can be extended with MotionPlus, the company’s new advanced motion control technology that allows for ease of integration with linear axes, rotary positioners and rotary turntables.
What’s new? The UR8 Long, which UR debuted in September at Fabtech.
Benefits Space savings, and the ability to handle tasks such as complex weldments and multi-point inspections. For bin-picking applications, its longer reach, compact tool flange and fast wrist joints allow more pick positions and for the robot to reach deep into bin corners with ease.
