Faro and Creaform combine, creating 2 new business units
Faro Technologies and Creaform, both businesses of Ametek Inc., are combining to form two new business units.
Faro’s 3D measurement segment and Creaform are now merged as Faro Creaform, which will focus on dimensional measurement solutions. It has headquarters in Lévis, Québec, and Lake Mary, Fla.
Faro’s roots date back to 1981, and its technologies include portable measurement arms and laser trackers. Creaform, founded in 2002, focuses on hand-held 3D scanning and automated inspection for markets including the automotive, aerospace, manufacturing and research industries.
“Faro Creaform is more than a consolidation. By combining the strength of two leaders, we’re opening possibilities that will empower industries to move from hindsight to foresight. Faro Creaform aims to become the undisputed leader in portable metrology,” said Fanny Truchon, business unit manager.
Faro’s reality capture business segment will become Faro Insight, headquartered in Korntal, Germany, and serving markets including construction, mining and law enforcement.
