Acquisition adds MicroStrain Sensing Systems to HBK

Addition boosts HBK's North American ties and presence in robotics and agriculture sectors.

Spectris plc announced its successful acquisition of MicroStrain Sensing Systems from Parker Hannifin Corp., which had been planned since June. MicroStrain will join Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBK) GmbH, which is part of the Spectris family of companies.

U.S. regulators have approved of the acquisition, which is valued at $37.6 million.

Headquartered in Hovedstaden, Denmark, HBK is known for its advanced instruments, testing equipment, software and services. Williston, Vt.-based MicroStrain designs and manufactures high-precision inertial and wireless sensing systems used in sectors including industrial automation and robotics.
