Report: 2022 will see 350,000 jobs added in U.S.
The Reshoring Initiative released its data report for the first half of 2022, and said that it projects reshoring and direct foreign investment to lead to 350,000 job announcements by the end of the year.
That number would be a record, following on the heels of 260,000 job announcements in 2021 – itself a record. The organization said that concerns for supply chain vulnerabilities, including the possibility of a China-Taiwan conflict, geopolitical instabilities and the threat posed by climate change have helped spur reshoring efforts.
The report said the continuing increase in jobs is mainly due to companies working to provide essential products affected by supply chain gaps, including electric batteries, semiconductors, PPE and pharmaceuticals. The top three states ranked by the number of jobs announced are Kentucky, North Carolina and Georgia.
Based in Sarasota, Fla., the Reshoring Initiative was founded in 2010 by Harry Moser, with the goal of moving manufacturing jobs back to the U.S.
