MeasurLink This software from Mitutoyo can help users of metrology instruments track measurement data involving a part to the mold or mold cavity that produced it. It accepts data from instruments, such as vision applications, scopes and CMMs offered by Mitutoyo, as well as other manufacturers. It uses MTConnect, a machining standard that provides process data, such as uptime, to machine users. MeasurLink reports can be sent to a printer, spreadsheet or email.

What’s new? Version 9, featuring enhanced data collection. The latest iteration provides what-if analysis, enabling it to calculate bonus tolerance — the amount a part can deviate from specifications without affecting performance.

Benefits Reduction in scrap and downtime. MeasurLink can help users better identify trends in part quality, allowing them to more quickly address the causes of rejects. Knowing bonus tolerance can help manufacturers avoid scrapping parts that in some cases might be salvageable. For example, the mating parts of a closet-door hinge could be slightly too big or too small, but, as long as they are mated with each other, they might still perform as expected. Having identified that’s the case, molders can also avoid the expense and downtime of repairing or replacing the mold or mold components responsible for producing such parts.
