e-mac This series of small, all-electric injection molding machines from Engel comes in clamping forces ranging from 55 tons to 420 tons. According to the company, the presses are competitively priced, and a full range of options — including clean-room packages — are available.
What’s new? A line of more-compact versions of all e-mac models, known as the e-mac slim edition. At NPE, Engel will showcase an e-mac 1565/310 slim, which will produce a bottle tray on a single-cavity mold supplied by longtime Engel partner Haidlmair, Nussbach, Austria. Part of a recycling package comprising a melt filter and highly abrasion- and corrosion-resistant screw and a melt filter, the 310-ton machine on exhibit will make the tray from HDPE regrind, rather than repelletized material.
Benefits Up to a 16-percent reduction in overall machine width with no increase in length. As Engel plans to demonstrate, e-mac slim has a smaller footprint, but its generous mold space is unchanged, allowing it to accommodate large molds.
