e-mac 280 Engel has expanded its e-mac line of all-electric injection molding machines, which are especially suited for molding components for electronics. All machine movements are performed by powerful servo-electric drives for precision and process stability. Presses in the e-mac line feature Engel's CC300 control, which has the flexibility to easily integrate robots and other peripherals. Instead of tie-bar guides, the moving platen uses high-precision linear guides for reduced friction, energy savings and increased service life of the clamping unit.
What's new? The size. The e-mac 280 has 310 tons of clamping force. Previously, the largest machines in the line had clamping forces of up to about 200 tons. Engel introduced the new model last month at the Fakuma trade show in Germany, where it molded connector housings with very thin walls from glass-reinforced polybutylene terephthalate.
Benefits Productivity and energy efficiency. The dynamic clamping drive with its optimized toggle lever geometry yields short dry cycle times, for greater efficiency. Additionally, the compact machine features an injection unit that swivels out for easier access to the screw tip, as well as a quick-coupling system for faster barrel changes.
