Austrian injection molding machine (IMM) manufacturer Engel announced it is now going beyond traditional sales of IMMs by offering a new pay-per-use model to its customers.
According to the company’s description, a unit price is agreed to – either per unit produced or per unit of machine operating time.
The new model offers processors reduced investment risk and flexibility for boosting production. Processors also can avoid tying up capital or a lengthy approval process to make substantial investments.
Production cells will have access to Engel’s online support, remote maintenance tool e-connect.24 and regular maintenance from the company’s service technicians. Engel’s e-connect.24 also tracks machine usage for billing purposes.
When the contract ends, users may opt to buy the machine, which otherwise goes to Engel Used Machinery for resale – which the company said contributes toward sustainability.
