The Reifenhäuser Group has presented the Reifenhäuser Sponsorship Award to Lukas Seifert to acknowledge the special research achievement in his master's thesis dealing with neural networks and injection molding.
Seifert’s thesis provides indications that injection molding parameter settings can be discovered on a modeling basis without knowing the actual process. The jury said the thesis is characterized by its high scientific quality.
Ulrich Reifenhäuser, chief scientific officer of extrusion machinery and equipment company the Reifenhäuser Group, and Christian Hopmann, head of the Institute for Plastics Processing, where Seifert studied, presented the award.
“The research field surrounding neural networks is highly topical and offers enormous potential for making production processes in industry more intelligent,” Ulrich Reifenhäuser said.
