Pineda returns as PLASTICS chief economist
The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) has welcomed the return of Perc Pineda to the role of chief economist, effective immediately.
Pineda had been with PLASTICS for about five years when he left the organization in February.
“We are excited to have Perc return to the PLASTICS team,” said Matt Seaholm, president and CEO of PLASTICS. “He brings a significant expertise that is unparalleled in our industry. Perc’s invaluable ability to identify economic trends and forecast the state of the marketplace is highly regarded and regularly anticipated by our members.”
As PLASTICS’ top expert on economics, statistics and industry research, Pineda will update members on the possible impact of national and global trends.
Prior to returning to PLASTICS, Pineda served as senior economist of the Credit Union National Association, where he tracked macroeconomic trends, conducted economic research, wrote articles for industry publications and interacted with the media.
Pineda's return is the latest in a string of personnel announcements from the organization since Seaholm took over.
Ashley Hood-Morley, who worked for PLASTICS before moving to Eastman Chemical, returned as VP, industry engagement. She will lead strategy on membership acquisition and retention, and oversee industry relationships and programs.
Stephanie Strategos Polis is the new VP of communications. She will lead all communication efforts and brand strategy, work with the government relations team on direct lobbying and coalition efforts, and advise leaders on marketing, digital messaging and public affairs.
Whitney Taveras, daughter of the late PLASTICS CEO Bill Carteaux, was named director of the Equipment Council.
