Simplified Flir device detects compressed-air leaks

Dec. 7, 2021
The Si124-LD acoustic imaging camera is more affordable than the original, multifunction model in the product line, and has software customized for leak detection.

Si124 Maintenance professionals can use Flir’s Si124 acoustic imaging camera to find leaks in compressed-air systems or detect partial discharge from high-voltage electrical systems. Via its 124 microphones, the Si124 produces a precise acoustic image, even in loud industrial environments. The acoustic image is superimposed on a digital camera image, which allows users to pinpoint the sound’s source. Through the Flir Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service, the device automatically saves images to the cloud.

What’s new? A new model, the Si124-LD, which is exclusively for detection of compressed-air leaks. With it, users can view the leak rate onscreen as it occurs (in liters or cubic feet per minute), quantify the size of the leak and see the estimated cost savings from fixing the issue. The device features artificial intelligence software that is customized to compressed-air leak detection.

Benefits Cost savings. The original Si124 has a list price of $19,999; the Si124-LD sells for $14,999. Furthermore, the lightweight device can be operated with one hand and provides faster inspections than traditional methods. Companies can extend the life of their compressors and lower electricity costs by incorporating the device into a regular maintenance schedule.
