TG165-X MSX Facilities maintenance engineers and machine technicians are among the professionals who might use this all-in-one diagnostic tool that combines a spot temperature gun and thermal imager. Made by Flir, it provides non-contact measurement and imaging of hot spots that indicate electrical or mechanical failures and the cold spots that indicate water or air leaks. The device measures temperatures up to 572 degrees Fahrenheit and costs $399.  

What’s new? The TG165-X MSX, which replaces the company’s TG165 model and has numerous upgrades. Improvements include Flir’s patented Multi-spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX) technology, which adds visual details to full thermal images. A new laser-projected bullseye target helps pinpoint trouble spots. The device also features an IP54-rated enclosure for protection against dust and water and a drop rating of 6.6 feet. Additionally, the device’s camera can store up to 50,000 images and other data to an embedded, 4-gigabyte flash memory that can be downloaded to Flir Tools software to create professional reports.
