Doosan ROS 2 package works with the easy-to-use ROS 2 Foxy Fitzroy robot operating system software.

Cobots Doosan Robotics offers three different series of collaborative robots, with payloads that range from 11 pounds to 55 pounds and reaches from 2.9 feet to 5.6 feet. They can be used for tasks ranging from pick-and-place, inspection and packaging functions to machine tending and heavy object handling.

What’s new? The Doosan ROS 2, a middleware package. Middleware is a type of software that acts as a bridge between an operating system and applications — and Doosan ROS 2 works with the open-source robot operating system software called ROS 2 Foxy Fitzroy. Doosan said this release makes it the first company whose collaborative robots can be driven by ROS 2 Foxy Fitzroy.

Benefits Simplicity and convenience. The ROS 2 Foxy Fitzroy software is widely used for robot development, and Doosan’s new release is expected to allow operators of Doosan robots to more quickly develop robot applications, such as gripper, mobile robot integration and multi-robot control. Doosan also plans to release sample application files and video tutorials through its partner supporting site, Doosan Robot LAB.
