Stäubli expands range of automatic tool-changing system

Five new sizes in the MPS series can handle payloads from 22 pounds to 176 pounds.

MPS The MPS series automatic tool-changing system from Stäubli is based on a modular concept. This system needs no adapter to attach directly to a robot’s ISO standard flange. To ensure precise connection, Stäubli uses cross-shaped guiding surfaces combined with a spring-loaded ball locking system.

What’s new? Five new sizes. These compact units — the MPS015, MPS025, MPS035, MPS055, and MPS080 — can handle a payload range from 22 pounds to 176 pounds. With the addition of these units, Stäubli offers tool changing systems for all payloads and robots.

Benefits Flexibility. While the tool changers are shipped fully assembled and ready for use, their modular design makes it easy to adapt or expand them as needs change. Additional modules include signal and data transmission, tool coding and data storage. The MPS015 and MPS025 can accept up to three modules, the MPS035 and MPS055 can accept up to five additional modules, and the MPS080 can accept from five to 10 modules. And with repeatability of plus or minus 1.5 microns, the MPS series ensures smooth tool changes.
