Mokon introduces a new line of circulating-water temperature-control units, portable chillers and combination water heating and chilling systems.

Mokon has introduced a new line of circulating-water temperature-control units (TCUs), portable chillers,  and combination water heating and chilling systems for use in clean rooms and medical product manufacturing and other applications with stringent sanitation requirements.

The line, which is called Pura-Therm, became available in April, and can be used in conjunction with extrusion, injection molding and blow molding processes. It encompasses TCUs, portable chillers and combination water heating and chilling systems, in a variety of sizes for each model type. The various kinds of systems meet ISO 14644 clean-room standards and have Type 4X NEMA panels to facilitate cleaning. They are designed for easy washdown. All the systems have microprocessor controls, retransmission controllers, and communication and remote set-point capabilities.  They have stainless-steel pumps and silicon carbide pump seals.

The Pura-Therm TCUs are built with non-ferrous and stainless-steel materials to reduce corrosion. Mokon said the design offers higher heat transfer rates, control efficiency and accuracy.

The TCUs come in four sizes. The smallest has a 0.75-horsepower (hp) pump with a flow rate of 25 gallons per minute at 25 psi. The unit is 30 inches long, 16 inches wide and 25 inches high. The largest has a 5-hp pump and flow rate of 80 gallons per minute at 38 psi. It is 34 inches long, 17 inches wide and 27.5 inches high. The other two models have 1.5-hp and 3-hp pumps.

The Pura-Therm portable chiller systems are available in air-cooled or water-cooled condensing models. They use a scroll compressor with a fluid temperature range of 20 degrees Fahrenheit to 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

The smallest of the eight portable chiller models has a nominal cooling capacity of 0.5 ton. The air-cooled version uses a 0.5-hp compressor, and the water-cooled version has a 0.75-hp pump. Flow rates run from 1.2 gallons per minute to 10 gallons per minute. The unit is 38 inches long, 25 inches wide and 38 inches high.

The largest portable chiller has a nominal cooling capacity of 10 tons. The air-cooled version has a 10-hp compressor, and the water-cooled version has a 1.5-hp pump. Flow rates run from 24 gallons per minute to 35 gallons per minute. The unit is 58 inches long, 37 inches wide and 45 inches high.

The Pura-Therm combination water-based heating and chilling temperature-control systems have a temperature range of 20 degrees Fahrenheit to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. All eight models are available in air-cooled or water-cooled versions. The smallest has a 0.5-hp compressor for the air-cooled model. Pump size can be selected from Mokon’s line of standard sizes; flow rates and pressure are determined by the selected pump. The smallest unit is 38 inches long, 25 inches wide and 62 inches high.

The largest combination unit has a 10-hp compressor for the air-cooled model and a 5-hp pump for the water-cooled version. The maximum flow rate is 80 gallons per minute at 38 psi. The unit is 58 inches long, 37 inches wide and 69 inches high.

Mokon provides a three-year warranty on the systems, a five-year warranty on controllers and safety components, and a lifetime warranty on piping and canisters.
