Axe-Crossing enables thinner film production
multiTouch This Battenfeld-Cincinnati roll stack consistently cools the top and bottom of the film or sheet it’s handling, equalizes thickness tolerances and optimizes flatness and transparency.
What’s new? The Axe-Crossing solution, available on the new multiTouch-X roll stack or as a retrofit to existing multiTouch roll stacks. With Axe-Crossing, the roll stack’s first roller is positioned so that the roller axis can be adjusted, while the second roller remains unchanged. With the rotation axes no longer parallel to each other, the setup compensates for roller deflection. The uniform gap across a large operating range enables particularly thin films.
Benefits The production of even thinner films, with the tightest thickness tolerances. With the multiTouch-X roll stack, the smoothing process results in a high-quality surface finish of the semi-finished product. Using the multiTouch-X makes possible the production of films under 150 microns for PET and under 200 microns for PP. Also, because the multiTouch-X requires no additional components, such as air blades or vacuum boxes, no in-line speed reduction is necessary.
