Control system adjusts extruder line based on resin consumption

Partner companies Maguire and Syncro have launched a system that combines a Maguire 4088 controller that tracks material consumption with a Maguire WXB extrusion blender and a Syncro controller to optimize material usage.

Maguire + Syncro control system Partner companies Maguire and Syncro Srl, Busto Arsizio, Italy, have added to their portfolio of shared offerings with a control system that uses material-consumption data to adjust the line speeds and haul-off rates of extrusion or coextrusion lines that produce wire or cable. The system combines a Maguire 4088 controller that tracks material consumption with two components — a Maguire WXB extrusion blender and a Syncro controller — that optimize the process. The hybrid system can be supplied on new extruders and coextruders or retrofitted to existing ones.

What’s new? The integration of the blender and dual controllers. In addition to the unique setup, the blender is distinguished by the fact that it offers both gain-in-weight and loss-in-weight capabilities.

Benefits Compliance within tight tolerances, significantly reducing the potential for waste. Depending on the application, when configured with an optional MGF feeder, the system also can improve product quality by protecting against over-coloring, which can hurt the electrical performance of cable insulation.
