Varinia Ruano has been named the German laboratory director for W. Müller GmbH, replacing Michael Lang, who retired at the end of 2020 after leading the laboratory for several decades.

Ruano, who began her career at W. Müller as a lab assistant in 2018, has a long academic history. She has studied in her home country of Guatemala, the U.S., Finland, and Germany, and earned a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oulu in Finland, with a thesis on extrusion blow molding.

Ruano’s plans include the digitalization of W. Müller’s development processes, and a near-total reduction in the environmental costs of blow molded packaging and the processes by which it is manufactured. W. Müller supplies blow molding extrusion heads and ancillary equipment.
