Emerson recently announced two separate corporate transactions.

The St. Louis, Mo., firm has purchased General Electric's Intelligent Platforms division. With the acquisition, Emerson will combine its distributed-control systems with Intelligent Platforms' PLC technology.

Emerson also said it has purchased HTE Engineering Services Ltd., an Ireland-based firm that develops and manufactures special-purpose equipment for the automotive, electronics and medical device industries. HTE's heat-staking technologies will be added to Emerson's Branson plastics-joining portfolio. Emerson did not disclose the terms of either deal.
