LPKF laser welder is ideal for large parts

PowerWeld3D 8000 LPKF has introduced a new laser welder for plastics that is especially suited to large components, such as automotive parts. The welder is able to join components with dimensions up to about 40 by 28 inches, creating weld widths of 1mm to 5mm.

What's new? The system and its patent-pending "wobbling" technology, which is used in place of the traditional continuous-wave process. Wobbling means that the laser beam moves with a small amplitude transverse to the weld path, and tracks the weld several times. The PowerWeld3D 8000 will be available in the first half of 2017.
