Octagon-shaped dial plate To accommodate the needs of a client interested in an automated palletizing application, Weiss custom designed and built two dial plates, each with diameters of about 46 inches. With a footprint that matches Weiss' TC220 rotary index table, the plates provide enough space for a pair of robots performing multiple functions within a medical parts subassembly operation. The robots include a SCARA unit for dispensing glue and a six-axis robot for discarding bad parts and removing, staging and placing good parts.

What's new? The custom dial plates. Though originally created for Jerit Automation Inc., a Mesa, Ariz., manufacturer, the design now is also commercially available.

Benefits Space savings to accommodate automation. With the robots, Jerit is able to save energy and provide a more ergonomic workspace.
