Maguire VBD-150 dryer tests show increase in throughput

Nov. 22, 2014

VBD-150  This vacuum dryer from Maguire uses vacuum to draw moisture from resin pellets and gravity to move the material. It has a footprint of 5.5 square feet and large casters for moving it around the plant.

What's New?  Throughput greater than 200 pounds per hour when drying hygroscopic resins like ABS, acrylic, nylon, polycarbonate and PBT. Production-scale testing completed this year showed hourly throughput, initially rated at 150 pounds, exceeded that spec.

Benefits  Faster drying, much less energy usage than a typical desiccant dryer, and it comes with a five-year warranty. The VBD-150, launched late last year, improved on Maguire's LPD vacuum dryer by doing away with the three-station indexing carousel mechanism, as well as sealing gaskets and perforated screens, for lower maintenance. The first new model released was the 1,000-pound-per-hour VBD-1000.
