Maag cutting blades are built to last

The Duration blades for strand granulators feature a new material with superior hardness.

Duration Maag designed these new cutting blades for its strand granulators as an alternative to traditional bed knife cutting blades that can be damaged by abrasion from fiber-reinforced plastics. Previously, blades were available in just three materials: Tungsten carbide and ceramic are susceptible to damage, and diamond-coated blades are expensive.

What’s new? The Duration blades, released last fall. They feature a new material called VS23, which increases the hardness of the surface by up to 70 percent.

Benefits High hardness that greatly reduces wear rate. Compared to conventional carbide tools, the Duration blades can last five to nine times longer.
