Erema TwinPro handles film waste efficiently

It combines a twin-screw extruder with the Preconditioning Unit to produce quality recycled pellets.

TwinPro This new Erema system combines a twin-screw extruder with the recycling equipment maker’s Preconditioning Unit (PCU) for handling low-bulk-density film, including multilayer films, as well as thin-walled post-consumer regrind materials, for reuse in multilayer films. One particular application is PP flakes that have been sorted and hot-washed from very thin-walled packaging such as yogurt cups; because of their low weight and high volume, such flakes prove challenging for other systems.

What’s new? The system, which Erema plans to display at the K Show. The TwinPro represents the first time Erema has coupled its PCU with a twin-screw extruder.

Benefits Efficient homogenization of low-bulk-density film, including thin-walled packaging, multilayer film, different polymer types and complex film waste, for maximum recycled pellet quality in a single work step. As part of the arrangement, the PCU removes residual moisture from the washing process and deodorizes the material.
