Fastems has updated its gantry tool storage system, which automatically delivers metal-cutting tools to individual machines.

Gantry tool storage system Fastems has updated its gantry tool storage (GTS) system, which automatically delivers metal-cutting tools to individual machines. The system stores up to 4,000 cutting tools in a central location and uses a traveling gantry robot and a pick-and-place robot to take them where they are needed. This allows tools to be shared among multiple machines, reducing tool and labor expenses and eliminating tool loading errors.

What’s new? An improved, modular design and software upgrades. The manufacturing management software controls automatic cutting tool changes and now has a more ergonomic interface, faster search functions for cutting tool information, a better view of numerical control programs and an upgraded response to unexpected machine stoppages.

Benefits Enhanced efficiency, ergonomics and overall user experience. The new modular design results in shorter delivery, installation and commissioning times, as well as cost advantages.
