Haas' robot package can tend its machining and turning centers.

Haas robot package Haas has created a plug-and-play system that automates the loading and unloading of many of its machining and turning centers. The robot package works with Haas small vertical machining centers and ST-10 through ST-25 turning centers. The package includes  the six-axis robot arm, base stand and parts table, robot electrical interface box, CE-compliant safety guard fencing, end-of-arm parts gripper (single gripper standard; double gripper available), and all necessary solenoids, hardware, and cables. To use the robot package, the Haas machine must also be equipped with the Auto Door feature.

What’s new? Robot package 3, which debuted in October. It comes with a Fanuc M-710iC/50 robot with a 110-pound capacity. Introduced earlier, robot package-1 uses a Fanuc LR Mate 200iD robot with a 15.4-pound capacity. Haas is developing a robot package 2 with an intermediate-sized robot.

Benefits Unattended operation. The robot package can be used for both automated batch and lights-out production. The robot can be programmed and controlled directly by the Haas machine control. Operators can direct the robot to run batches by retrieving raw stock from the table, loading it into the machine, then unloading the finished parts back onto the table. Or, if paired with a conveyor system or other automation, the robot package could run a larger batch than can be accommodated by its table. Robot package 3 is available for $99,995.
