Isoplast tool steel is crack-resistant
M333 Isoplast Böhler has overcome the cracking and poor thermal conductivity of standard 420 stainless steel with special remelting technology and modified chemistry. Edro Specialty Steels Inc. is the exclusive distributor for Kapfenberg, Austria-based Böhler’s products in the U.S.
What’s new? Upgrades to the heat treatment procedure. Changing its Rockwell scale hardness from the previous 50-52 HRC to 49-50 HRC lets M333 Isoplast reach toughness properties at the level of an H13 ESR tool steel.
Benefits Improved thermal conductivity. Molds made with M333 Isoplast offer shorter cycle times because parts cool faster. It makes it easier to achieve a mirror finish, which reduces maintenance and repair time and boosts mold life.
