ColorForm technology gains multicolor mixing head

KraussMaffei's process coats injection molded parts with polyurethane, replacing paint.

ColorForm KraussMaffei’s technology allows injection molders to coat plastic components with polyurethane directly in the mold in a single, integrated process, for large parts such as automotive exterior body panels. The process delivers a premium surface quality and resists scratches and UV damage, while eliminating the need for painting and its resultant overspray and VOC emissions.

What's new? A multicolor mixing head, debuting at Fakuma. Multiple colors are available at the mixing head simultaneously and can be selected during production without replacing color nozzles, changing color modules or removing the mixing head. The system automatically selects the desired color while other materials continue to circulate in the loop.

Benefits Color changes that can be carried out during the production process without manual intervention, shortening setup times and making productions of variants more cost-effective.
