Aria uses AI to manage injection molding process

A vision system and Smart Mold's software combine to analyze parts for defects and suggest corrective actions.

Aria This artificial intelligence (AI)-based assistance system from Smart Mold is designed to help injection molding companies manage the process and make adjustments as process conditions change. Leveraging computer vision and AI, the software measures the quality of parts, identifies any defects and suggests the most effective corrective actions to achieve the desired quality more quickly, analyzing the severity of defects to determine whether the process is improving or deteriorating. It can be integrated with any injection molding machine, even older models or those not connected to a network. Installation involves a vision system with industrial cameras, controlled lighting and a local processing unit. The Sirmax Group holds a 50 percent stake in Smart Mold, which specializes in optimizing the plastic injection molding process.

What’s new? Aria, which debuted in June at Plast 2026 at Milan.

Benefits Efficiency, stability and repeatability. With Aria, users can reduce trial runs by up to 88 percent during setup, and scrap by up to 94 percent during restarts.
