Julio Lopez is new managing director of Arburg Mexico

Plastics machinery manufacturers see opportunity in the country for growth and shortening supply chains in North America.

Julio Lopez is the new managing director of Arburg, S.A. de C.V. in Querétaro, Mexico, as of July 21.

Lopez comes from industrial and packaging solutions provider Coesia Group, where he held positions including managing director in Mexico and Brazil and chief sales officer for North America.

“There is still growth potential, particularly in pre-production for the automotive sector, but also for the medical technology and packaging industries,” Lopez said. “Our goal is to capitalise on these opportunities as a trusted partner by providing comprehensive support to our customers and further expanding our presence.”

Despite trade upheavals including the uncertainty surrounding the USMCAplastics machinery manufacturers are investing in operations in Mexico in an effort to circumvent logistical and supply chain snags. Absolute Haitian, Engel and Netstal are among the injection molding machine makers that are building or expanding facilities in the country.

Arburg, based in Lossburg, Germany, manufactures injection molding machines, automation, turnkey solutions and digital products and services.
