Wittmann USA names Sonny Morneault next president

David Preusse is transitioning to a part-time advisory role; Jason Long is promoted to VP-Sales.

Wittmann USA has named Sonny Morneault, current VP of sales at the company, as its next president. The company’s longtime president, David Preusse, is stepping down and transitioning to a part-time business development role with the company, effective May 2024 at NPE in Orlando.

Speaking via a video message, Wittmann Global Group President Michael Wittmann made the announcement, saying, “My friendship with David Preusse goes back to February 1996, when I was general manager of Wittmann Robot & Automation in the USA. … David quickly increased our sales and market share, and he took over as president when I returned to Austria in 2002. He has succeeded in expanding our business in every respect over the years, and this year, Wittmann USA will be our top sales producer in the world, overtaking Wittmann Germany — a great accomplishment. We wish him all the best in his new part-time role with the company.” Wittmann said Preusse will stay on as a part-time advisor to Wittmann USA.

Preusse, 62, said turning over the leadership of the Torrington, Conn.-based supplier of injection molding machines, robots and auxiliary equipment to Morneault is an ideal transition for the company and its customers. “I am leaving Wittmann USA in capable hands with Sonny,” he said.

Morneault, 56, joined Wittmann USA in 2007 as dryers product manager, and became its VP of sales in 2015. In that role, he has increased Wittmann USA’s overall sales by 30 percent.

The company also announced that Jason Long will be replacing Morneault as VP-sales. Long, 44, most recently served as national sales manager for the company’s robots and automation division, a role he has held since 2017.
