Flir EST Flir’s latest thermal cameras are designed to be used at building entrances and high-traffic areas to check people for elevated skin temperatures. Manufacturing companies can use them to screen arriving workers as part of their efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

What’s new? Several models, which join the company’s existing line of thermal cameras for skin-temperature screening. The A500-EST and A700-EST models are for use in permanent installations and can be deployed either in a single, standalone screening station or in a network. The T540-EST and T560-EST cameras can be used in permanent or mobile settings; they can be handheld or operated hands-free using an integrated tripod mount. The E54-EST and E86-EST battery-powered cameras are lightweight and ergonomically designed for handheld use. Additionally, the cameras feature an update to the company’s Screen-EST mode, which automatically generates a sample baseline temperature average. The feature then compares individuals’ skin temperature against that baseline, which reduces measurement uncertainty that can result from natural body temperature fluctuations and environmental effects. This mode sounds or displays an alarm when the camera detects a temperature higher than the threshold.

Benefits Fast, efficient and safe screening for fever, one of the symptoms of COVID-19. The cameras are easy to set up and operate. Additionally, the update to Screen-EST mode increases throughput by 25 percent compared to the previous versions.
