North America saw the value of the injection molding and extrusion equipment it shipped decrease by a total of 0.5 percent in the third quarter of 2019 to $293.7 million, according to data from the Plastics Industry Association’s Committee on Equipment Statistics. While shipments of single-screw extruders rose 5.3 percent and twin-screw versions grew by 13.9 percent over the prior quarter, those of injection molding machines fell by 1.9 percent.
Overall shipments were down 15.9 percent compared to the same quarter a year earlier, with twin-screw extruders falling 29.3 percent, single-screw extruders dropping 5.6 percent, and IMM shipments down 15.5 percent, according to the Washington-based trade association.
